On the night of June 16 over 60 leaders from institutions across Orange County pledged to support campaigns to resolve top community concerns around policing, affordable housing, and raising hard money to ensure our political autonomy and our continued ability to act effectively. Below is a summary of these campaigns and Justice United's action plan for the next three months. SUMMARY OF CAMPAIGN PROPOSALS

CAMPAIGN TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS WITH POLICE: Win commitments from local law enforcement to strengthen relationships with people of color.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING CAMPAIGN: Tackle affordable housing shortage by helping to develop or improve 1,000 units of affordable housing across Orange County, starting with St. Paul Village. Identify, pledge land and funds held by or accessible through faith institutions. Invite University, Hospital leaders to follow our lead and anchor new affordable development.

SUMMARY OF PROPOSED ACTION PLAN JUNE 16 - SEPTEMBER 15

July 18 Core Team Meeting: Leaders report on progress with campaign research actions and power analysis, as well as plan / train for canvassing action. United Church of Chapel Hill, 7:00 - 9:00 PM

July 18 - August 25: Research Actions, Canvassing, House Meetings. Top JU leaders build relationships with decision makers, and conduct power analysis of all key players. Core Teams engage 600 members, residents, and workers to test and refine issues.

August 25 Countywide Leaders Meeting: Report from meetings with local law enforcement, affordable housing decision makers, and canvassing actions. Plan strategy for 9/15 Assembly. UU Congregation of Hillsborough, 7:00 - 9:00 PM

September 15 Public Assembly: Win commitments from decision makers  to improve community relationships with police. Build for affordable housing action in 2017. Turnout goal 300. St. Thomas More, 7:00 - 9:00 PM

CAMPAÑA PROPUESTA PARA MEJORAR RELACIONES COMUNITARIAS CON LA POLICÍA:  Obtener compromisos de las agencias de orden local para evaluar y modificar políticas que están involuntariamente causando miedo y menoscabando las relaciones con la gente no blanca.
