Preventing and Addressing Bullying in Public Schools
Sharing experiences and brainstorming solutions
Saturday, August 9 | 10-11:30 am
St. Theresa Room, St. Thomas More
Hosted by Orange County Justice United and St. Thomas More’s Mental Health Ministry
- Families with children in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Orange County Public Schools are invited to a Listening Session to share experiences with school bullying and brainstorm solutions. Many families have reported an increase in bullying of immigrant and refugee students, in particular.
- School leadership has expressed willingness to work together with us to develop more strategies to prevent and address bullying.
- We are creating a team of families who want to work together to envision solutions so that their children have the full opportunity to thrive at school
Food provided, and childcare can be provided on request.
*This event will be held primarily in Spanish, but with simultaneous English interpretation available. The central focus will be immigrant families’ experiences with bullying in the local public schools, but others who share the concern and/or want to support are welcome.
