Justice United leaders have joined forces with a network of local housing and racial justice community leaders to ensure that community members have resources to prevent disproportionate, racially biased tax bills, and access to property tax assistance.

There’s a lot of confusion about this year’s property revaluation, including which homeowners will actually see a tax increase. Note: it will be the tax rate, which has not yet been set, that would determine whether you see a tax increase. However, the property owners that will be hit the hardest will be homes that were inaccurately assessed, and whose valuation increase is higher than the County average. Given the long track record of racial inequity in property assessment and taxation, leaders are working to equip the community with tools for property tax justice.
