The most consultants hired by Orange County to examine the property tax assessment (GAR Consultants) will present their report TONIGHT, Tuesday, October 6, at 7 pm at the Whitted Building in Hillsborough. The report confirms the serious issues that our coalition has been raising, and makes recommendations for the same kinds of changes we have been calling for.
You are invited to show up and emphasize that the County must pay attention to this report and implement the recommended changes.
Where: Whitted Building, 300 W Tryon St, Hillsborough, NC 27278
When: Arrive by 7:15 pm to hear the property tax assessment report (according to the County clerk). Full agenda is here.
What: Show that our community is united in announcing that the report confirms our own findings, and in calling on the County to implement all needed changes.
Key talking points:

- This report confirms the same issues that our Orange County Property Tax Justice Coalition has been pointing out for a year and a half.
- The County should implement all of the necessary changes outlined in the report, including hiring effective staffing to carry out those changes.
More About the Consultant Report
Summary from Hudson Vaughan, from the NC Housing Coalition:
Bottom line: While the report finds that Orange County as a whole met the basic standards required of them, it identifies a large number of issues across the board, almost all of which confirm those that our coalition identified, and make significant recommendations for improvement that - by and large - line up well with our advocacy and previous recommendations.
